Hem Min Chair by Max Lamb

Max Lamb’s Min Chair for Hem is a lesson in extreme material economy. Originally conceived as a self-build project, the chair is built using minimum cuts to yield maximum character.A single solid pine post is sliced diagonally to create the optimal surface area for the front legs. A second post yields the back legs and backrest. A third forms the seat.

The result is a subtly subversive, geometric silhouette defined by its repeated diagonal angles. Crafted from premium, lightly white-pigmented pine, this heavy, purposeful seat is designed to age gracefully and handle daily abuse. It is premium chairness from one of contemporary design’s most coveted figures.
