JOYCE LIN 1-800-GET-PINK CHAIR

Furniture designers have spent decades using hidden toxic foams and resins to mask the raw reality of their creations, chasing impossibly seamless, otherworldly silhouettes. Houston-based designer Joyce Lin takes the exact opposite approach. Rather than hiding the guts of her furniture, the 1-800-GET-PINK Chair puts them on full display. Sourced directly from local hardware stores, the chair utilizes raw, artificial Owens Corning Pink Panther insulation board as its structural centerpiece. The fleshy, exposed pink foam is wrapped tightly inside a rigid, chunky metallic fiberglass shell, creating a stark visual contradiction. The ultimate anti-industrial statement, each limited-edition piece features the brand’s original graphic labels peeking directly through the seat, ensuring no two chairs in the series are exactly alike.
