Apple has finally folded. Unveiled at their September event, the iPhone Duo is Cupertino’s long-awaited answer to the flexible display era, ditching the tall, narrow aspect ratios of its competitors for a wider, “passport-style” footprint.
THE SPECIFICATIONS
- Dual Screens: A 5.4-inch outer cover screen unfolds to reveal a massive 7.6-inch inner display. The interior panel features a specialized matte nano-texture coating that virtually eliminates glare, fingerprints, and the dreaded screen crease.
- Premium Chassis: Built to take a beating, the frame and hinge are carved from Grade 5 titanium, paired with Ceramic Shield glass to achieve an impressive IP68 water-resistance rating.
- Under the Hood: Powered by the cutting-edge A20 Pro chip, it drops Face ID in favor of a legacy Touch ID sensor built into the power button—a necessary concession to keep the profile ultra-thin.Optics & Input: It carries a 48MP Dual Fusion camera array on the back and offers full Apple Pencil (USB-C) support across both displays.
THE FUNCTION
Running a specialized iteration of iOS, the Duo is built for tactile multitasking. You can pair and launch two apps side-by-side in landscape mode, or partially fold the rigid hinge to prop the device up. It functions hands-free as a video screen or a bedside clock utilizing StandBy mode, eliminating the need for a kickstand or dock.
